I vividly remember being on vacation in Malibu with my family and breaking up a kid’s protein bar (Cliff ZBar) into four pieces to eat throughout the entire day. That’s it. No other food.
I was about the size of a small child at the time and was hell-bent on staying that way.
I would plan every morsel of food that crossed my lips, and count every calorie, always wishing that I could somehow just eat less and be even smaller.
I was a lifeguard at the time and would get (playfully) taunted and teased for never having the brownie or cake at staff birthday celebrations, and I almost cried once when I ordered a fruit plate at a restaurant and it arrived with cheddar cheese on top.
Whoa. A lot has changed since then.
I would say “That’s so crazy, right?!” but it’s actually not given the pounds and pounds of pressure put on women to look and act a certain way.
I would never count calories again, and I rarely even know what I’m going to have at my next meal.
I follow my instincts, listen to my cravings and go from there.
When it’s mealtime sometimes I’ll just wander my NYC neighborhood and stop when I’m drawn into a place. It’s always the perfect thing – delicious and satisfying.
So as you can see, I used to be an avid meal planner, and now, some would even call me anti-plan.
But, I acknowledge that structure can be helpful when your goal is vibrant health and weight loss, maintenance, or weight gain.
When you separate meal planning from the often-associated feelings of anxiety and pressure, it’s very helpful in itself.
When not clouded by what society imposes on us in terms of body shape and what we should eat, a meal plan can be super supportive in reaching Whole Health – especially if you’re a busy person, which most of us are.
Today I want to gift you with just that – a personalized custom meal plan.
