I have a new kinda-by-accident secret tool that’s totally awesome for weight loss and maintenance, digestive health, healing and preventing acne and other skin blemishes and so much more.
I’m overwhelmed by how many awesome healing benefits this stuff that looks – and tastes – like mud has.
See, I wasn’t planning on eating it, but when the package arrived I checked out the instructions out of curiosity and noticed that it could be taken internally in water, about one teaspoon a day, and that it’s an ancient healing tool for detoxification, digestive support and so much more.
Enter bentonite clay, the secret healing powder I’ve just discovered and added to my heavy-duty arsenal of blow-your-mind health tools.
Check out the benefits:
- Ushers out heavy metals and toxins. Bentonite clay has a natural negative charge when added to water that attracts heavy metals and other toxins and removes them via the digestive system. Toxicity from food, personal care and home products, and environmental factors is a primary cause of chronic fatigue, so try dissolving one teaspoon of clay in water or juice every day and see if you notice an increase in energy.
- Improves digestion. Clay is incredibly absorbent and multiples in size in the digestive tract, collecting and moving old toxins and particles along. There’s nothing like a good cleanse.
- Reduces internal dampness. In Ayurveda, dampness is considered to be a low-qi (internal energy) condition that leads to skin issues, digestive upset, weight gain, and even makes you more susceptible to infection. Clay absorbs that dampness and brings the body to a state of balance and resilience, increasing internal energy.
- Increases metabolic rate, supporting weight loss, if that’s your goal. When the body is damp, the metabolism slows down. By balancing this issue, clay naturally supports the metabolism to work at optimal function.
- Improves immunity. By ridding the body of free radicals with its negative charge, clay decreases the likelihood of infection and other disease by strengthening the immune system.
- Clears up and prevents blemishes. Bentonite clay sucks your pores dry and removes dead skin cells and toxins from the skin while boosting elasticity and firmness. Mix with filtered water to create a smooth paste and spread over skin, let it dry, then wash off and finish with toner and moisturizer.
- Reduces inflammation. By ushering toxins out of the body, clay decreases inflammation, a primary cause of muscle tension, chronic fatigue, and other conditions.
- Alkalizes the body. Clay is naturally alkaline and balances acidity in the body. Acidity is most-commonly caused by stress, excessive meat consumption, caffeine, sugar, and/or alcohol.
- Improves circulation and cellular oxygenation. The negative charge of clay reduces the impact of electromagnetic frequencies EMFs in the body that you pick u from cell phones, TVs, and computers. EMFs lead to nervous system upset, anxiety, and thyroid (aka metabolic) dysfunction. The negative charge of clay also improves circulation and brings more oxygen to the body. This especially helps with energy levels and focus since the brain and digestive system desperately need lots of oxygen to keep supporting you.
- Reduces allergy symptoms. Have you ever noticed that if you drink too much coffee or eat too much chocolate you sneeze more often? This is a yin reaction, and allergy symptoms like coughing and sneezing are also yin and acidic. By alkalizing your body through food and supplementing with clay, you can naturally reduce your allergy symptoms.
When I sat down to write this, I thought it was going to be a light and funny post, but as I kept typing, I realized that bentonite clay is incredibly important to your health and unknown to many people.
I’m super excited to share this tool with you today, and to keep using it to maintain my own health and support new levels of energy and vitality.
Have you tried bentonite clay? If so, what’s your favorite way to use it and what benefits have you noticed?
Or is this the first time you’re hearing about it? If so, which benefit are you most excited to get from it?
Leave a comment below and tell me! I can’t wait to hear from you.
I use it to make my own version of Earthpaste toothpaste and love it! Will have to try some of the suggestions above soon. 🙂
Awesome Kathie! I know it’s great for the teeth and gums but I’ve never heard of using it for toothpaste. I’ll definitely have to try that out as I transition to exclusively 100% natural self-care products. Thanks for the idea and let me know how your experimentation with other uses goes! Hugs.
