Overeating can be really triggering.

That too-full feeling can make it seem like you’ll never be at peace with your body and food, sending you into a total shame spiral.

These are the 7 steps I recommend taking after you’ve overeaten…

  1. Forgive yourself, and accept exactly how you’re feeling in this moment. Be light with yourself. You are human, and this feeling is temporary.
  2. Have a cup of peppermint or ginger tea for digestive support.
  3. Go for a walk with music that puts you in a great mood, and do some stretching.
  4. Do not punish yourself with exercise – that perpetuates the good-bad cycle.
  5. Meditate, get good rest, and hydrate.
  6. Return to normal meals as soon as possible – as soon as you feel hungry.
  7. Do not restrict your food, that also perpetuates the good-bad cycle.

Do you find yourself in a shame spiral after overeating? Are these tools helpful?
