Overeating can be really triggering.
That too-full feeling can make it seem like you’ll never be at peace with your body and food, sending you into a total shame spiral.
These are the 7 steps I recommend taking after you’ve overeaten…
- Forgive yourself, and accept exactly how you’re feeling in this moment. Be light with yourself. You are human, and this feeling is temporary.
- Have a cup of peppermint or ginger tea for digestive support.
- Go for a walk with music that puts you in a great mood, and do some stretching.
- Do not punish yourself with exercise – that perpetuates the good-bad cycle.
- Meditate, get good rest, and hydrate.
- Return to normal meals as soon as possible – as soon as you feel hungry.
- Do not restrict your food, that also perpetuates the good-bad cycle.
Do you find yourself in a shame spiral after overeating? Are these tools helpful?
