Get my free 5-Step System To Ditch Bloating

A Note On Boring AF Food

Think back to the last three meals you ate.

Did they delight and satisfy your taste buds and senses?

We humans need alllll the flavors and textures.

Otherwise we feel bored and deprived, which can lead to overeating and binge-eating.

This happens a lot when someone is trying to eat super “healthy” and “clean.”

You start avoiding salt, good fats, and seasoning.

And your food is tasteless and unsatisfying.

Whether you’re eating a salad or a slice of pizza (#intuitiveeating), make it taste really f*cking good, and watch your body calibrate.

You do not have to eat tasteless health food to feel great in your body.

But you probably don’t have time to make Michelin-level meals every day.

Thankfully, making your food taste great can be really simple. You probably already have everything you need in your kitchen.

These are my three favorite ways to make an average meal amazing…

1. Good salt.

A lot of people are still afraid of salt, and it’s SO important for satiation and satisfaction.

Salt isn’t generally bad for you, and it won’t automatically make you bloated.

The right amount of salt can actually stimulate digestion and REDUCE bloating.

Make sure you reach for high quality types, like pink Himalyan.

You need to eat the right amount of salt for your body… and your body will tell you.

If something tastes too salty, it’s likely your body doesn’t need that much salt. If something tastes bland, add some more salt.

It’s safe to salt your food to taste.

Your body is a self-healing, self-calibrating system. Trust your taste buds and follow your cravings – they’re not something to be afraid of.

Of course, certain things, like excess alcohol or caffeine, can trigger intense salt cravings. That’s a different story.

But for most of my clients, salt helps tremendously with metabolism, digestion, focus, and sooo much more.

When you’re in balance, you crave the right amount of salt for your body.

You feel satisfied after meals, and you don’t have extreme cravings.

Like with everything having to do with food and diet, there’s no set amount that works for everyone, but we don’t need to be afraid of salt.

2. Delicious fats.

Fat is another nutrient that so many people are still scared of, even if only subconsciously.

Thanks, 80s diet culture. 😄

Fat is not bad for you in itself, and in most cases, it won’t make you gain weight or get sick.

Including enough good fats at every meal – like olive oil, grass-fed butter, or high-quality cheese – will make your meals physically, mentally, and emotionally satisfying.

Plus, good fats support hormone balance, brain function, and many more crucial functions.

Do you deprive yourself of fats? Which particular fats is your body craving?

Listen to your body, experiment, and of course, run everything by your doctor.

I’m not a medical professional, and everyone has different needs when it comes to fats.

3. Herbs and spices.

If you’re making a beautiful roast chicken dinner, you’re probably using lots of great herbs and spices.

But what about your average eggs and toast, or salad?

Adding fresh herbs, like basil and thyme, or spices like chili flakes or turmeric, will make the most basic meal feel special – and deeply satisfying.

And when you’re satisfied, eating an entire roll of Oreos with peanut butter just doesn’t sound that appealing.

You don’t have to go to three different markets and buy 10 new seasonings to make your food taste amazing.

And if you’re already a pro, rolling your eyes at these tips, that’s cool.

Take it a step further.

Try new flavor combos, or a spice you rarely reach for – or have never tried. I’m sure there’s at least one.

>> Pro challenge: Buy one ingredient every week that you’ve never tried before, and use it to fancy up your everyday meals.

Maybe an exotic sesame seed blend, fresh lemon thyme, or sumac. I LOVE sumac. 😍

Just grab anything new-to-you, and experiment with it.

When your tastebuds and senses are satisfied, you’re way less likely to overeat or binge.

The same way your body needs enough food, period, your body needs enough flavor variation.

Are you a victim of boring, bland food? 🤪

It happens to the best of us.

I find myself in ruts sometimes, and have to break out the sumac. 😝

Which step will you take this week to make your food taste better?

Post below – I love talking about food with you.

With love,
Lula
